IT Recruitment Fees



Visit any of the more reputable IT Recruitment sites and look for their scale of fees.

The chances are that you won't find them, because most companies don't like to let people (particularly their candidates), know how much they charge for their services.

The industry standard fee for permanent IT recruitment services is 20% of the commencing salary, which is paid by the employer.

That's what I charge too.

Unlike some competitors though, I don't charge an additional fee for taxable benefits like cars, etc.

Now, for a 20% fee (that would be £10,000 on a £50,000 placement), what do you get for your money?

Well, first of all you get me, David Carter, a recruitment specialist with more than 20 years experience.

In many IT recruitment agencies, your 20% gets you a commission-hungry recruiter, barely out of his or her teens with no actual business experience, but that's the recruitment industry for you!

Also, I don't maintain any kind of candidate database, so you won't get the standard type of "agency database search" service offered by all of my competitors. I work harder than that.

For example, a database search cannot possibly identify those candidates with the best communication skills, nor can it accurately assess anything other than suitability for a role by anything other than a keyword search.

Guess what? I actually speak to my candidates. I screen them for suitability against your vacancy and I actively sell the job and your company to them.

It's how recruitment should be done, but rarely is.

After you've interviewed my candidates, I contact them again to re-qualify their interest and to make sure that there is nothing standing in the way, should you wish to make an offer of employment.

Sometimes, clients like me to attend and perform de-briefing interviews immediately after they've performed interviews. It's something I offer at no extra charge.

These follow-up discussions can often mean the difference between success or failure in a recruitment exercise.
