IT
Professionals
If you're an IT professional, you've probably had dealings with
a large number of recruitment agencies.
I hope you managed to find a few who did the job properly.
There are some very good recruiters out there. Not as good as
me, but good all the same.
Did you know that the average fee that an agency receives
for placing you in your job is 20% of your starting salary? The
average fee across the recruitment industry (for all jobs) is a
little under £4000.
It's amazing to me that for this kind of money, many
agencies don't even go to the trouble of confirming receipt of
applications, let alone speaking to their candidates.
That's why I set up IT-Recruitment.co.uk to be
different.
First of all, I don't accept speculative applications and I
don't maintain a database of candidates.
This is unusual and probably unique in the recruitment
industry, but the fact is that 99% of all CVs sitting on
agency databases will never see the light of day.
Agencies concentrate on the most recent candidates and of
those, only those suitable for current, existing vacancies will
be considered. The remainder "go on the database".
It's easier for agencies to advertise continually as the
vacancies arise.
That's why you see agencies advertising on sites like
Jobserve and CWJobs, for jobs that you know you can do, but for
some reason, even though you're regsitered with the agency,
you've not been called.
I take a different route with my advertising.
You won't see my ads on job boards, but when you do see
them, you'll know instantly that you're dealing at a completely
different level.
When you respond to one of my exclusive job advertisements,
you'll find all of the information about the vacancy at
your fingertips.
You'll know what skills are required, what the job involves,
the geographical location and the salary.
You'll get an acknowledgement of your application and,
assuming that your profile is broadly relevant, I'll call you
and we'll have a nice chat about your career and your own
requirements.
We'll then talk about the vacancy you applied for and see
whether it's worth progressing further. Itr's as much your
choice as it is mine.
If we agree to go ahead, I'll reveal the name of the
employer and make the necessary arrangements for interview.
Your application will only ever be made with your prior
knowledge and permission. That's a promise that few IT
Recruiters make by the way.
The, hopefully, I'll set up your interview with the client.
I'll tell you what to expect, how to present yourself, the
questions to ask - in fact, you'll be better prepared than
you've ever been.
Afterwards, I'll call you again and we'll discuss how the
interview went and of course, I'll get you some feedback from
the employer - regardless of whether your application is
successful.
This feedback will prove valuable to you for any future
interviews you attend. For some reason, some IT Recruiters
don't like doing this. Personally, I think it's common courtesy
and should be provided as standard.
Anyway, it might be a little frustrating for you having come
this far and not being able to submit your CV, but really, my
way is a better way and one day, I hope you'll get to
experience the service.
Remember those recruitment fees I showed you at the top of
the page? Well, I want mine so I like to do the job properly. I
can only do that with well qualified, interested and relevant
candidates.
